SEPTA Bus Drivers Are Hitting Philadelphians In Crosswalks
A Philadelphia SEPTA bus accident occurred when the bus driver struck Angelina Conti, 74 years old, as she was crossing Broad Street and Oregon Avenue. Ms. Conti was killed in the bus accident. SEPTA officials have acknowledged that Ms. Conti had the right of way when she was killed. Ms. Conti was well within the crosswalk.
Three hours earlier, another Philadelphia SEPTA bus accident occurred when the bus driver struck a man who was crossing 8th and Girard in his wheelchair. The Bus was in the process of turning at the time of the accident. The footrest of the wheelchair got caught under the bus' left front tire and dragged the victim about10 feet. The victim was within the crosswalk . His leg was crushed under the bus. SEPTA has acknowledged that the wheelchair victim had the right of way.
SEPTA needs to stress to its drivers the rules of the road. This is not a hard concept to grasp. Pedestrians within a crosswalk have the right of way.
